Harvesting catalogues of other nodes
The catalogue demonstrates federation-wide discovery by harvesting public catalogues of other EOSC nodes.
The EOSC Federation works through federated catalogues: every node publishes its services in a common format and other nodes can collect them. The Slovak catalogue implements both directions.
Outbound – what the node publishes
The public API (/api/v1/services) publishes the production services of the node in the EOSC service profile, ready to be harvested by the EU Node and by other national or thematic nodes.
Inbound – what the node harvests
A harvester periodically copies the public catalogues of registered external nodes into a display-only cache, so that their services can be browsed next to the Slovak ones. The demonstration currently includes catalogues of EOSC Finland, EOSC PaNOSC and the EOSC Digital Twin Ocean node. Harvested records are never edited locally and are clearly marked with their node of origin.
Why it matters
- Researchers discover services across the Federation from one place.
- The node proves interoperability of its catalogue before entering full production.
- The same mechanism will be used to expose Slovak services in the federated EOSC catalogues.
